how do I talk to others about my feelings during depression?

HOW DO I CORRECTLY VENT TO OTHERS ABOUT HOW I AM FEELING?

ANSWER:

When you speak with a counselor, just talk and let them walk you through questions but when you speak with friends, that's different. Friends don't always understand that what your feeling is clouded by your depression.

I found that simply writing or typing things out is powerful (journaling). Then once you journal, put your journal down, go for a walk and take a break from it. Later, go back and read through it to analyze what you're feeling.

There's a process I teach that you can go through BEFORE you share thoughts and feelings with friends. (Also, be sure to choose safe people to share with).

In our e-course and handbook, I go over proper steps on expressing your emotions. You can learn a bit more here...

If you don't have friends who understand or who are positive, than do yourself a HUGE favour and speak with a certified counselor... just talk and let them walk you through questions and walk through your journey out of depression.

There is hope!

Blessings,

Merri Ellen
