What I noticed was that my allergy symptoms were greatly reduced when I began treatment with anti depressants. It made me wonder why the two would be connected. Could it be that stress make us more vulnerable to various ailments?

ANSWER: That is correct. Prolonged stress breaks down our immune system. 'Stress now contributes to 90% of all diseases. Half of all visits to doctors are stress-related'. (Source: Dr. Kenneth Greenspan, director of the Centre of Stress Related Disorders at New York's Presbyterian Hospital).

The fact is prolonged stress leads to illness and that includes allergies. So, perhaps you need to dig deeper than your allergies and depression and find out the root cause of your stress. Start there for the road to healing.

There is hope! You are worth it!

Hi there! This is the first comment that I can so relate to! I have a lot of food allergies, I have had low levels of D and B12 since finding out about my food allergies, I have not found any supplements that I can take because of them. I was on Paxil last year and gained 40lbs. I then switched to Prozac and weaned myself off. I have been off of both for 3 months. Now it seems I am sensitive to everything I eat and I don't know why. It causes a lot of anxiety, Xanax helps when it is really bad. The only good thing that came from being off of Paxil and Prozac is I lost 45lbs.!
