Finding a new interest

The state of my depression was to the point where nearly everyone who knew me was able to tell that I wasnt myself, even those who rarely seen me.

I had put off getting professional help for it but finally agreed with my school counselor that something needed to be done about it.

I made an appointment for a mental health youth centre. I went for the referral session and did not hear back for another 2 weeks.

By the time I heard back, they had decided they are referring me to another centre, specializing in the same services.

I am yet to hear from this centre and have not had any professional counselling with either of them, just continuing with the one through school.

However, after talking with a friend of a friend, I have decided to join the Fire Brigade. For some reason, I have such enthusiasm about getting into it, more than I have about anything else.

I have found that since I decided I was going to join, that I have become a lot happier with myself and that everything is now looking much more positive.

That's awesome!! Thanks for sharing Bron. Often finding something with purpose does help you get back up on your feet.

If you need to talk to a counselor, feel free to take advantage of one of our online counselors which you can access from the home page or use the 'need to talk?' button. Don't wait around for your school to get things together when you truly need someone to talk to. Way to go in finding a new interest!

Blessings,

Merri Ellen

Depression and Exercise
by: Tim

In a clinical trial, EXERCISE worked better than the "antidepressant" Zoloft.
It is a fact that if you keep your mind and body working on "positive" stuff, you will have far less depression.
